Upgrade to Oracle 12c Database using DBUA


Today I want to discuss the upgrade to the new 12c database release. In this post i’m going to do this with the Database Upgrade Assistent (DBUA).

1. Install new database software

2. Start DBUA from new oracle home:

2.1 Choose correct oracle home and database

2.2 Check pre requirements

2.3 Check warnings & correct them

2.4 Setup upgrade process script

2.5 Configure Enterprise Manager Express

2.6 Choose new file paths if nessecary

2.7 Choose local listener

2.8 Make backup before upgrade

2.9 Summary

2.10 Do upgrade

2.11 Upgrade is done

2.12 Upgrade summary

Done. Your database should be 12c now.
